Kindness is so, so important. Especially at the moment. Excellent article Lisa! 😀

Commented on / The Magic of Kindness

Excellent article! This is a very tough time and we need to manage our mental health as best we can under the circumstances. Often that means no external help as all services have stopped (over here at least). Helplines are vital at the moment and I'm not ashamed to admit I've used them several times.

Commented on / Your mental health in the pandemic

I'm taking it one day at a time. It seems more manageable that way.

Commented on / Getting to know our new normal

Great post. I'm finding the whole thing a bit odd to be honest. I feel less guilty about being unable to do or attend certain things than I usually would. Because everyone is in the same boat as me, and this genuinely isn't my fault, I think I'm coming to peace with the new normal. If that makes sense.

Commented on / Quarantined When You Have a Chronic Illness

This hit me because I went through something similar. I was never expected to go to university because I was always just 'average' to everyone in my life. Smart? Nope, not Chloe. But I went to spite people, but I ended up spiting myself. Like you I ate very rarely and when I did it was in my room, and usually nothing more than a few crackers. I was anxious about my course the moment I stepped foot into the building, and came very close to changing in second year. But it would require alot of work which I didn't have the mental health for. Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm sure there are a lot people out there who can relate.

Very interesting post. I love podcasts, and intend to start my own soon! I'll defo check out yours 🙂

Great advice! I love the colour coding idea and writing lists. I always kept a diary and wrote down everything I did, then I would highlight them to let me know I've completed my tasks.

I love learning new things. Although graduated over 3 years now, I still find joy in learning about something new. About new opportunities and discovering new things that might help me, and others, in life.

Great post and something that really needs to be talked about more often. They are such important things for us as women to do. Scary? Yes, maybe. But you'll thank yourself after.

Great suggestions. I used to set myself out a time table and stick to it strictly. I also used a diary religiously, wrote down everything I did for uni work that day & highlighted completed tasks. I would also write down total word count beside the assignments + the remainder required so I could easily determine how much time needed to be spent and where.

I sometimes become overwhelmed with how much I have to do. But I find sitting down and making a list of no more than 7 items really helps.

I was an introvert in University (still am) and could have used these kind words of encouragement from someone.

Oh, this is hard-hitting. We don't even have life insurance yet, never mind a will. We're not married, never going to be, so this makes me think what would happen if something did happen to one of us!

It's hard to be yourself but so important. We all don't want to be cyber clones, and although that seems like the only way to get ahead in high school, you'll thank yourself later.

Commented on / Stress; The Silent Killer

Everyone is different in regards to looks, mentality etc. Yet we so often find ourselves getting stuck within the comparison game. Me included. I struggle greatly with this and compare myself to the other women my age with great sadness. It doesn't help my mental health one bit. A good thought-provoking piece of writing!

Commented on / Like a Snowflake…

I, as well as a large portion of society, very rarely concentrate on my achievements. In my mind I have none compared to the subsequent failures. I focus on the negative no matter how small rather than the positive. It's a hard mindset to get out of, especially if you've been stuck in it for so long. Great post, thank you for sharing your tips with us.

So beautifully written Amy. I love letters like this. You've addressed your younger self in such a compassionate way, and not like most letters where we criticize ourselves and warn us of the dangers of our bad decisions.

Commented on / Dear Fourteen Year Old Me…

I personally lived away from home throughout my university experience. Money was a big issue, but it did give me freedom and teach me more responsibility than I had while living at home. Because we lived so far from campus living away was the only option, however if we had been closer I would have lived at home in my final year just because money was one stressor I didn't need.

Thank you for taking the time to write about this. I find that emetophobia isn't talked about a lot. It's a condition I've only come to learn about quite recently after recording a podcast. The lack of awareness is crazy, and it definitely needs to be talked about more. I wish you all the best with your future tests.

Those are some great ideas to try and create happiness. I sometimes ask myself what happiness really is and what it means, because I'm unsure if I've ever felt pure, unadulterated happiness. But I've come to realize that even just feeling content can be translated into happiness. I find spending time with my best friend, partner and cat create happiness. As does downtime, writing and playing video games.
