Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for a night out on the town… but it comes to a point when you’d rather do something that doesn’t involve alcohol. There’s no harm in drinking every now and again, but it really isn’t the be all and end all of student life. Here’s a few ideas of fun things to do at uni without drinking (and that don’t cost a fortune either)!
Some of the best memories I have at uni are from the times we hired a boat and went out on the lake. Friendships are really formed when it’s your turn to row and you can’t get the boat to move in any direction other than circular! From my experience, the time spent out on the lake was spent doing nothing but laughing (and a little bit of shouting when it came to my turn to row). I mean what better way to test your friendship than to try swap places in the boat without capsizing it.
No matter where you are, there’s bound to be somewhere nice to walk. Whether it’s a park or a National Trust property, anywhere will do. You can take a picnic with you and have a nice little lunch. Or go on the hunt for the perfect little tea room! The opportunities for things to do on a walk are endless! Here in Nottingham we go to Wollaton Park- which is a lovely day out! It’s made even more fun when someone (usually me) spends the whole day claiming they’re going to ride one of the deer.
Going out for meals is a fantastic way to socialise with friends. What’s better than eating and chatting? Nothing! What’s more, dining out needn’t be expensive! It’s possible to go out for a meal without it breaking the bank. An easy way to do this is by getting yourself a taste card. The money you spend on buying one will be saved in it’s first two uses. I can even get you a 90 day taste card for just £1 here!! Go ahead and give it a try, it’s well worth it!
Watching something together means you can all be sat on the sofa, drinking tea without a drop of alcohol in sight. I also gives you something to talk about, and can lead to millions of inside jokes! In our house we watch the Great British Bake Off on Tuesday. Me and one of the other girls watch Keeping Up With The Kardashians together too. Watching TV together is so much more fun than sitting alone in your room watching it. For ideas of what to watch check out my 5 top shows here.

These sound like fun activities to do together. Another fun activity could be a games night. Cooking together could be another one. Thank you for sharing xx
They’re such good ideas of things to do together. I especially love the idea of a games night! Thank you so much for reading and for sharing! Xx
You are welcome xx
Watching a TV show together is such a great way to bond with your friends! Our regular meet ups with our friends include game nights, which is great because everyone has a laugh and you can go with or without the booze 🙂
Games nights are a great idea because people who want to drink can and those who don’t have the option not to!x
