It’s the start of a new university year, for some of you it is your first year!

As a local to Plymouth, I am here to recommend some fantastic stores around the local area where you can buy some fantastic stationary for your studies.

Poundland

It may surprise a few of you but Poundland actually has a nice collection of stationary. From pens and pencils to notebooks, ring binders to tape. With a range of different designs, you can stock up for the year coming with a selection of interesting and cool stationary.

Wilko

Wilko is a personal favourite of mine. Offering Weekly Planners, Project Books, Budget Planners as well as your standard lined books, Wilko stationary can help you out with lifestyle as well as your educational supplies, all within a nice small budget.

The Works

The Works is another low costing stationary store which offer a range of supplies from standard stationary to art supplies to crafting supplies. Boasting an interesting and pretty range of budget stationary, they’re perfect for saving pennies whilst getting your uni supplies. They also sell a range of books, academic and fiction which may come in handy.

Paperchase

Paperchase is great for stationary lovers or for anyone looking something quirky. A whole store dedicated to your stationary needs; they have a larger selection of supplies with high quality stock. Not only this, but they also offer some art supplies for all the local art students. Our online store, NeedToLive, usually have offers to save you money with Paperchase so head over to the website if you would like to take advantage of the deals!

W H Smith

W H Smith is a store that I love looking around at the stationary, although their pricing can sometimes be high. They have a huge range of supplies with a wide variety of designs for all your student needs.

TheArtSide

The ArtSide is an art supply store that also offer a printing service. I mention this store for all art students from PCA and Plymouth University. They are an extremely friendly bunch with bundles of knowledge for any art medium you use. Offering a wide range of papers, paints, pens etc, they are always on hand when you need advice. They are also very responsive on facebook if you need to get in contact with them. When it comes to the time for you to write your dissertation, they offer a dissertation printing, binding and foiling service at a low cost (something to keep in mind for the future.)

Local Artists

Check out your local artists! As Plymouth is a location with an arts university, you will find a lot of students creating unique stationary as well as artist prints. For those of you who would like something a little different check out Etsy or search around for Illustration, Graphic, Fine Art etc students. A wonderful example is ElenaIllustration. A student at PCA 3/4 years ago, she creates amazing bespoke designs that will make stationary lovers’ hearts sing, without breaking the bank.

These are the main stationary stores I would suggest to all students, however, there are other stores within Plymouth for you to find fantastic and unique stationary as such as:

Rymans

Tiger

Hobbycraft

The Range

Smiggle

T K Maxx

Waterstones
