I took a break from posting online – here’s what happened

It’s been a while guys hasn’t it… I’m sorry. I haven’t been able to post much content for the past couple month for a variety of reasons, but in my absence, I have been able to think of some new and original ideas to bring to my blog posts on the My Need To Live Website. I am so excited to share the next chapter of my life with you all!

The main reason I’ve been so quiet is due to the fact I wanted to stop posting online for a while. The outcome has made me into a better version of myself. For the past couple of months, I rarely posted on social media, that is, not unnecessarily. If I did want to post something, I did, but I ensured that when I was about to write something online, I considered what others may think about it. Would it hurt them? If so, don’t post it.

By not posting as much on social media, I found that I had a lot less problems. Communicating face to face was a much easier task, and I no longer felt the pressure weighting me down to live up to the expectations social media requires of us. Sure, I would still consider them relevant, maybe I would use a cliche caption for an Instagram photo now and then, but I no longer have the surge to ‘fit in’ as it were. Maybe it’s called growing up, maybe the is it.

I think it has mainly been the recent unfolding of the pandemic engulfing our world as we know it, that has encouraged me to use social media more again, so that I am abed to stay in contact with my friends and family. Of course, it is important to stay in touch with them now more than ever, they may be feeling lonely right now. But, I am still making sure to try realise when enough is enough, and I need to come offline for a bit – finding a balance is key.

I’m glad to be back here now though, I’ve missed this platform. Having somewhere to wrote knowing hopefully I am entertaining or helping or even reassuring someone is enough self gratitude for me.

Love Eleanor xx
