College is one of the most important parts of shaping your future career. It helps to create a basis on which you need to constantly build. But, College is not the only step you need to take to shape your future career. There are a few more steps you should be making in order to attain a job after graduation.

Find an internship.

One of the most important things to do in College is to find an internship. It not only helps you finding what you like to do, but it also builds up a network of business relationships. Which, in the long-run can help build up a portfolio and possible future employers.

Internships help you to work towards an entry-level career, but they also give you very important work experience. But, be careful that you select internships that don’t seem random to what you are studying. Make sure that you stay within the field you want to work in. If you are not yet sure what you want to do utilize the career services that your College has to offer.

Another tip is to look for business that are smaller. It is much more likely you get to do actual work in a smaller business than a big business. The smaller businesses tend to need the help and therefore you gain real work experience.

Attend Job Fairs.

Also important are Job Fairs at your College. They help you to get a good overview of potential future employees. There you can also find out what they require for a position at their business. That way you can find courses and internships that are directed at a position at your favorite future employer.

Work experience is key.

Furthermore, it is also important to gain work experience through seasonal jobs or jobs you take while in College. Try to find a job that makes sure you develop your a new skill.

There are also plenty of websites that offer free courses. That way you show initiative in learning a new skill.

Just remember that it is important to gain work experience and life experience. The more you learned in College the higher the possibility is of finding a job after graduation.

But most of all have fun with what your decide to do. Do what makes you happy. Hard work always pays off.

Great stuff! I got so much value from my internship during Uni, arguably much more than my degree did in terms of industry exposure and hands-on experience.
