For those that know me, it is no secret that I am a bit of an enthusiast in terms of menswear and clothing. Especially as a student I always found it challenging to keep up this passion of mine. Particularly if I am trying to be sensible with my money and not breaking the bank. This is not another article about saving money. I will not tell you that you don’t really need new clothes and that you should cut out all expenses which are not food or bills. Quite the opposite, I think that it is important to pursue your interest and I will share some tips that will help you shop a bit “smarter”.

Shop out of season

This is quite self-explanatory, get your coats in during the warmer times and buy your lighter clothes during winter months. This will allow you to bag great deals on your favourite items. In order to do this, it is important to pop into your favourite shops fairly regularly to see whether there are any items on sale from a previous season.

Coupon Codes are you your best friends

Nowadays most people do a lot of their shopping online. Many retailers allow you to put Promo Codes in the checkout page of your order which can often times give you a great discount on your purchase. Often there are loads of codes you can find online from hundreds of websites and it can all get pretty confusing. So I will let you in on a secret that will simplify your shopping. I found this Chrome Extension called Shoptagr which will automatically apply any codes that it will find online!  Another great feature is that you can add clothes you find online to a list and keep everything in the same place. In addition to that, you can also be notified anytime the price of that item goes down so you don’t miss any deals on your favourite clothes.

Newsletters!

Pick a few of your favourite shops and sign up to their newsletters. You will find that they often send out emails with discounts and promotions! Be warned, if you are a compulsive shopper you may not want to sign up to too many newsletters. This is because these brands will often bombard you with several e-mails about their new lines and products. So, if you have a tendency to buy new clothes even when you don’t need to you may want to stay away from this!

Final Words

As students, you most likely will not have deep pockets and you will have to be sensible about what you spend your money on. This does not mean giving up on what you care about, you can afford anything if you save for it and manage your money well!
